BOONE, N.C. – The George Mason men's soccer team allowed a pair of late second-half goals and fell to Appalachian State, 2-0, on Friday night at the Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex in Boone, N.C.   Â
The Mountaineers (2-1-0) and Patriots (1-2-1) were scoreless through the first 70 minutes of the match. Appalachian State took command with goals on consecutive shots.
Junior defender Zeiko Harris netted the first goal of the game in the 71st minute off a set piece, converting with a header off a corner kick to put the Mountaineers in front 1-0.Â
Just over a minute later, the Mountaineers found some space on the left side and created a two-on-one with sophomore midfielder Alex Hernandez finishing the play from five yards out to make the score 2-0.
Mason freshman goalkeeper Tillman Theurich (1-2-0) made one save, while Appalachian State freshman Jacob Madden (2-1-0) made five saves in the game.

71' | Harris scored into the upper right off a corner kick with Alex McGrath picking up the assist.
72' | Hernandez took a pass from the left side from Camden Holbrook and scored into the lower right side of the net from five yards out.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
The Patriots outshot the Mountaineers 20-9, including a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal. Mason had nine corner kicks, while Appalachian State had four corner kicks in the match.
Mason senior midfielder Ryan Mingachos and senior forward Tunde Akinlosotu combined for 13 shot attempts and each recorded two shots on goal in the game.

"Despite numerous and quality chances on goal we couldn't get the goal that could have made a difference," Mason head coach Greg Andrulis said. The good news is that we created enough chances. Once we start connecting we'll be on our way."Â
