COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The George Mason women's soccer team fell on the road to Maryland (3-2-0) on Thursday at Ludwig Field.
The Terrapins' forward Alyssa Poarch started the scoring in the 10th minute, giving Maryland an early one-goal advantage. Maryland continued the offensive pressure, as they amassed 10 first half shots.
Despite the attack, the Patriots' defense stayed strong through the first half of play, as the score remained 1-0 heading into the break.
In the 72nd minute, the Terrapins added another goal as Alexis Hogarth shot one from deep to give Maryland the lead, 2-0.
The final goal by Maryland came in the 85th minute, when Mikalya Dayes netted a hard shot in the top corner of the net to give her squad a three-goal advantage.
Mason's lone shot came in the 42nd minute when sophomore forward Emma an der Vorst fired a free kick shot just over the net. That would ultimately be the only shot for the Patriots in the contest.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
It was a tough night for the Patriots, as the Terrapins earned a 19-1 advantage in shots in the contest. Maryland also recorded 11 corner kicks. Mason did not record a corner. Goalkeeper
Morgan Symmers earned nine saves, a career high for the redshirt senior, in the Thursday night matchup.
