ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The George Mason men's soccer team fell to Navy, 1-0, on Monday night at the Glenn Warner Soccer Complex in Annapolis, Md.
The Midshipmen (2-0-0) scored the lone goal of the match in the 40th minute of play. Navy sophomore forward Joe Alex scored his first goal of the season from 25 yards out, with sophomore forward Bayne Bentley picking up the assist.
Mason (1-1-0) senior forward
Ryan Mingachos recorded the lone shot on goal in the match for the Patriots. Navy has allowed just two shots on goal over its first two matches of the season.
The Patriots had a corner kick with seven seconds remaining in regulation, but the Midshipmen were able to hold on for the victory.
Mason freshman goalkeeper
Tillman Theurich (1-1-0) made four saves, while Navy junior goalkeeper Ian Bramblett (2-0-0) made one save in the game.

Greg Andrulis said. "We had some quality chances but we were a little off in the final third. The Navy team played well and the goal scored against us was a top class strike in the upper 90. Lots of positives to build on as we move forward with this stretch of road games."  Â

The Midshipmen outshot the Patriots 14-8, including a 5-1 advantage in shots on goal. Â Navy had five corner kicks, while Mason had two corner kicks in the match.
The two clubs combined for 23 fouls in the match (Mason 12, Navy 10).
