Box Score COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The George Mason women's volleyball team dropped its opening match of the Maryland Invitational to Princeton, 3-0, on Friday afternoon. The Patriots move to 2-5 overall while the Tigers (1-3) earned their first win of the season.
Mason will face Maryland (1 p.m.) and Arkansas (4 p.m.) Saturday at the XFINITY Center Pavilion in College Park, Md., to round out the Maryland Invitational. Both matches will be streamed on BTN Plus.
Senior outside hitter
Bailey Williams tabbed a team-high nine kills and added six digs and two solo blocks in the match. Sophomore
Siron Hardy posted eight kills while freshman
Stephanie Der registered nine digs.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Mason fell to the Tigers – 25-22, 25-14, 25-16.
- The Patriots held the advantage in blocks, 7.0 to 3.0, including three stuffs by sophomore Peyton Ehmke.
- Freshman Jewel Clark made her first career start, tabbing four kills, five digs and two blocks.
- The Patriots posted a set-low eight kills in the third stanza, compared to Princeton's mark of 17.
- Five Tigers hit over. 300 in the match, allowing Princeton to hold the advantage in hitting percentage, .372 to .193.
- Mason collected a season-low 30 digs on defense.
