FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason cross country wrapped up its second meet of the 2019 season in front of its home crowd on Friday evening at Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Va. The Mason men finished third in the 8k course while the women placed fourth in the seven-team 5k race.
On the men's side, the Patriots scored 76 points to finish third. Saint Joseph's won the meet with a score of 35 and Richmond claimed second with 44 points.
Junior
Hunter Jutras paced the Patriots with a seventh-place finish (26:04.5), followed closely behind by sophomore
Jack Ikenberry (26:08.7) in eighth.
Sophomore
Jake Lonsdale (26:20.6) finished in 16th, junior
Thomas Amabile (26:35.5) in 21st and senior
Colin Cannon (26:40.6) in 24th. Junior
Will Smagh (27:02.0, 34th) and freshman
James Seal (27:38.3, 48th) rounded out the Mason men.
On the women's side, Mason scored 92 points to finish fourth. Richmond took first with 49 points, followed by George Washington (52) and Duquesne (69).
Freshman
Annabelle Eastman led the Patriots with a time of 18:38.0 to place fourth overall. Fellow freshman Vilde Vage Henriksen (19:06.4) was not far behind, finishing 13th.
Junior
Carina Garcia (19:08.5) placed 15th, senior
Khalilah Hamer (19:46.8) tabbed 29th, and junior
Maggie Larkin (19:47.7) notched 31st. Rounding out the Mason women were junior
Allison Rice (19:48.3) in 32nd and senior
Sarah Richart (19:49.1) in 33rd.
Next, the Patriots will compete in the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh on Oct. 5 in Bethlehem, Pa.
