FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's soccer team travels to Harrisonburg, Va. to take on James Madison (1-5) Thursday, with kickoff at 7 p.m.

The matchup on Thursday will be the 33rd between the two clubs, as the Dukes hold a 16-12-4 all-time record over the Patriots (1-3-1).

Last time the Patriots were out on the pitch they secured their first victory of the 2019 season, defeating Binghamton by a score of 2-0. Mason outshot the Bearcats 15-5, along with earning a 5-4 advantage in corner kick chances on Sunday. The junior duo of Sara Chontosh and Jisca Adigo both earned their first goal of their third-year campaign. Adigo earned three points in the contest with an assist to go along with her goal.

The Dukes have started their 2019 season dropping five of six games. James Madison has been outscored by their opponents (10-16) and outshot by their opponents (81-76). Madison has also recorded only three first half goals thus far in 2019. On the flip side, the Dukes have amassed a 47-29 edge in corner kicks over the opposition through their first six games.

James Madison has faced three nationally ranked teams already this season, including their most recent match against No. 8 Penn State.

In that contest, the Dukes earned the first goal of the match in the 1st minute, but could not hold on as they fell to the Nittany Lions, 2-1. Penn State came out of the game with a 21-8 advantage in shots over James Madison, while holding the Dukes to zero corner kicks.

The Patriots will be looking for their second straight victory before heading back home to face Towson, as they wrap up non-conference play on Sunday.
