FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason men's basketball forward AJ Wilson was selected as Kenner League MVP and led his team to a championship win this past Sunday.

Wilson's team, Clyde's, defeated A. Wash & Associates 94-87 in the championship game after boasting a 6-1 regular season record. He scored 20 points, grabbed ten rebounds, and blocked four shots in the championship game.

In the regular season, AJ averaged around 20 points, ten rebounds, and five blocks per game. He was joined for a few games by Jamal Hartwell II, a rising sophomore, who returned home to California before playoffs.

"Earning the league MVP title was the icing on the cake," said Wilson. "It will provide me great momentum as I head into the season."

This is the third summer that Wilson participated in the Kenner League, which is based in Washington, D.C.

AJ has also spent time this summer interning at Evolution Basketball. A sport management major, he served as a trainer for basketball players aged 12 to 17.

"I'm watching a lot of film. I'm working on expanding my offensive game, working on my jump shot, and improving my range," he said of his preparations for the upcoming season.

Wilson and the Patriots will kick off the 2019-20 campaign at home on Nov. 5, hosting Navy for Armed Forces Night. The team will also face Catholic at home on Oct. 30 for an exhibition game.
