FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason women's soccer team continues their home stand Sunday, as they take on UCF (0-1-1), with kickoff slated for 1 p.m.

This will be the ninth matchup between the two programs, as the Patriots have a 6-1-1 record against the Knights.

Last time out, the Patriots (0-2-0) dropped their home opener against Kentucky on Thursday. Mason, led by junior forward Kayla Hamric, earned two goals in the first half tying the game at the break, but could not capitalize on seven second half corner kicks, as they fell to the Wildcats 4-2.

Hamric earned a goal in the 11th minute and an assist off of corner kick in the 32d minute. Sophomore Kolbrún Eyjólfsdóttir earned her first goal as a Patriot with a header off of Hamric's corner. Graduate student Gabriela Rivera added an assist to the box score as well.

The Patriots recorded 15 total shots in the contest, while the Wildcats had nine. Kentucky earned four saves to Mason's three, along with committing three fouls to the Patriots' nine. Mason also ended with an 11-3 edge in corner kicks on the night. Hamric earned three points in the contest, making her the leading scorer for the Patriots.

To start the 2019 season, UCF has had two Big Ten matchups, with the latest coming against Ohio State.

The Knights played the Buckeyes to a 1-1 draw after two early game goals and a scoreless final 63 minutes in the match. The Knights, who had 12 shots, earned advantages over the Buckeyes in saves (6) and corner kicks (9).

The Knights have only scored one goal in 2019, but have only allowed two in as many games.

UCF finished with an overall record of 10-7-1, 6-3-0 in AAC conference play last season. The Knights are looking for more of the same success from last year as they welcome 14 newcomers to their 2019 roster (10 freshmen and four transfers).
