FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's soccer team plays its final exhibition game of the season, facing William & Mary on Saturday with the kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. at Martin Family Stadium in Williamsburg, Va.
The Patriots fell to James Madison, 3-0, last Sunday at George Mason Stadium. The Dukes finished with a 10-3 edge in shots, including a 7-0 advantage in shots on goal. Mason had four corner kicks, while the Dukes didn't have a corner kick in the game.

Arnor Dadi Gunnarsson and
Ryan Mingachos each recorded one shot for Mason. A total of 20 players saw action for the Patriots in the match against the Dukes.
Mason was picked seventh (93 points) in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll, voted on by the league's head coaches. VCU, last year's A-10 conference regular-season champion with a record of 6-1-1, was projected to finish first (159 points/eight first-place votes), followed by Saint Louis (146 points/two first-place votes) and defending A-10 Champion Rhode Island (142 points/three first-place votes).
The Patriots added nine newcomers to the team for the 2019 season, including five transfers and four freshmen. Mason returns 20 letterwinners and five of their top-six scorers from last year's team that advanced to the Atlantic 10 Championship game.
Seniors
Tunde Akinlosotu and
Grant Robinson tied for the team lead in goals (5) during the 2018 season, while Akinlosotu's 15 points led the club. Mingachos tied for second on the team in goals (4), assists (4) and points (12).
The Patriots finished the 2018 campaign with a 9-8-0 overall record and posted a 5-3-0 mark against A-10 opponents, tying for third place in the conference during the regular season. Mason was 6-3-0 at home, 2-4-0 on the road and 1-1 in games played at a neutral site.
In the A-10 quarterfinals, the Patriots defeated Saint Louis in double-overtime, 1-0. In the semifinals at the Billiken Sports Center, Mason defeated Dayton, 1-0, in double-overtime to advance to the championship game for the first time since the 2013 season.
The Patriots open the regular season against American on Friday, August 30 at George Mason Stadium with the kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
SCOUTING WILLIAM & MARY
The Tribe finished the 2018 season with a 6-10-2 overall record, including a mark of 3-3-2 against Colonial Athletic Association opponents. William & Mary went 4-3-1 at home and 2-7-1 on the road last season.
The Tribe had its game against VCU on Tuesday cancelled due to inclement weather after a scoreless first half.
William & Mary defeated Navy, 1-0, last Saturday at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex in the first exhibition game of the season for both teams. Sophomore James Bradley scored the lone goal of the game from six yards out in the 24th minute of play.
Navy finished with a 13-6 advantage in shots, while both teams had four shots on goal in the match. Tribe sophomore goalkeeper Connor Andrews played the first half and made two saves, while freshman Milo Everaert made one save in the second half.
William & Mary was projected to finished fourth in the preseason CAA poll by a vote of the conference's nine head coaches. James Madison was picked to finish first, followed by UNCW and Hofstra.
The Tribe earned their third straight CAA Tournament appearance with a fifth-place finish in the conference last season and defeated Delaware, 3-2, in the quarterfinals of the CAA Tournament before falling to James Madison in the semifinals.
William & Mary returns just five starters for a year ago. A trio of midfielders paced the Tribe in scoring last season. Ryder Bell led the club in goals (5) and was second on the team in both assists (3) and points (13), Trott Reeves tied for second on the club in goals (4) and tied for third in points (9), while Julian Ngoh tied for third on the team in goals (3) and points (9).
CORNER KICK
William & Mary has a record of 4-0-4 in its last eight exhibition matches. The Tribe has a mark of 12-1-8 in exhibition play dating back to the 2006 season.

Saturday's match will be the fourth exhibition game between the two teams in the last five years. The Patriots and Tribe played to a 2-2 draw in 2015 at George Mason Stadium and a 1-1 draw in 2016 at Martin Family Stadium.
