Greenville, N.C. - The George Mason women's soccer team competed well in a one half match, which was ultimately canceled due to weather conditions, on Thursday at Johnson Stadium.
The match began only to be delayed by the 7th minute due to lightning. Once the storm passed, the two teams finished the remainder of the half. Before the student-athletes were able to take the field for the second half, another weather delay took place due to lightning. As the lightning continued, time constraints caused the match to be canceled. The match only lasted 45 minutes, therefore the results and stats will not be recorded.
"We would like to thank East Carolina for their hospitality and for hosting us," head coach Todd Bramble (@toddbramble) said. "We tried to the best of our ability to finish this match, but unfortunately the weather did not cooperate."
East Carolina redshirt sophomore Grace Doran put the Pirates ahead 1-0 in the 44th minute of play, right before the first half concluded. The Pirates scored the lone goal in the only half of play thanks to a pass from senior Daria Draovitch off of a corner kick.
