Nicole Cardaño-Hillary has been invited by her home country Spain to take part in the 2019 FIBA U20 Women's European Championships team trials, scheduled to begin July 10 in Madrid, Spain. She is vying to make the 12-person roster that will compete in the Czech Republic, August 3-11.
This marks Nikki's first invitation to participate in tryouts regarding this unique opportunity to represent her country in international competition.
"I am thrilled and excited to meet the girls and coaches and potentially compete for my home country," Cardaño-Hillary said in a phone interview. "This will help my overall game by playing with a diverse and talented group as well as getting experience in the European style of play. I enjoy the game of basketball and this experience will be a lot of fun."
The 2018-19 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year led the league and was tied for 16
thin the country in scoring (20.4 ppg). She is the first player in A-10 history to win A-10 Rookie of the Year and A-10 Player of the Year honors in back-to-back years.
She currently ranks 14th on Mason's all-time scoring with 1,218 points and is 13th in career steals (149).
