FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason junior starter
Jared DiCesare was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 17th round of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft on Wednesday.
DiCesare, a native of Chantilly, Va., finished the season with a 4-7 record and a 5.40 ERA. He tied for first on the club in starts (13) and wins (4), while leading the team with two complete games. The right-hander was second on the team in both innings pitched (80.0) and strikeouts (59).
DiCesare has appeared in 51 games with 23 starts for the Patriots. He has a career record of 12-16 with a 4.24 ERA and five saves.
The Patriots have had two players selected in the MLB draft for the second straight year.

Logan Driscoll was selected in the second round by the San Diego Padres with the 73rd overall pick on Tuesday.
