FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason junior catcher
Logan Driscoll has been named one of 14 semifinalists for the 2019 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award, the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission announced.
Driscoll, a native of Burke, Va., is the lone representative from the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Driscoll started 32 of 47 games played behind the plate for the Patriots during his junior season. At the plate, he led the team in average (.343), hits (58), doubles (12), triples (2), home runs (9), RBI (33), slugging percentage (.598) and on-base percentage (.462).
In Atlantic 10 Conference play, Driscoll batted .364 (24-for-66) with seven doubles and four home runs. He posted a .662 slugging percentage and .488 on-base percentage against the league.
Among A-10 leaders, Driscoll finished the regular season fourth in slugging percentage (.598), fifth in on-base percentage (.462), tied for seventh in home runs (9), ninth in batting average (.343), tied for 16th in walks (31), tied for 21st in both runs scored (37) and doubles (12) and tied for 23rd in hits (58).
Driscoll had at least one hit in 35 of 47 games played (58-for-169) during the 2019 campaign, including 13 multi-hit games and 11 multi-RBI games. He finished the season with seven stolen bases in 10 attempts.

Catchers on the watch list were nominated by their schools. Statistics to compare them were pulled on May 10, 2019. One key criterion in determining the semifinalists is that they must be a starting catcher for their team in 70% of the games.
Ballots will be sent to the national voting panel at the end of May for a vote to determine the three finalists. The finalists will be announced June 3, 2019. A final vote among the national committee will occur during the College World Series. All finalists will be brought to Wichita and the winner will be announced at the 22nd Annual Greater Wichita Sports Banquet on June 27, 2019.
