FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason junior catcher Logan Driscoll drove in the game-winning run with a triple off the wall in center field in the ninth, lifting the Patriots to a 4-3 walk-off win over Longwood on Tuesday at Spuhler Field.

Mason (13-18, 1-8 A-10) took the lead over Longwood (9-23, 4-8 Big South) in the second inning against Lancers freshman starter Mike Esposito.

Mason senior infielder Greg Popatak II and junior outfielder Bailey Klein both walked to start the second.  With one out, freshman first baseman Aaron Yurko drew a walk to load the bases.  Sophomore Daniel Brooks then drove in a run with a groundout to put the Patriots in front 1-0.

Longwood loaded the bases in each of the first two innings, but Mason freshman starter Patrick Halligan was able to work his way out of the jam both times.

The Lancers dented the scoreboard in the top of the fourth.  With two on and one out, Lancers junior shortstop Antwaun Tucker drove in the tying run with a RBI double down the left field line.  Senior catcher Carlos Garrido then drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to make it a 2-1 game.

The Patriots responded in the bottom of the fourth with a pair of two-out runs.

After Yurko scratched out an infield single and Brooks reached on a fielding error when Longwood center fielder Jawan McAllister dropped a fly ball, with Yurko scoring all the way from first to tie the score 2-2.  Mason senior shortstop Alejandro Aponte plated Brooks with a single to center to give the Patriots a 3-2 advantage.

Longwood put runners on first and second with one out in the top of the fifth before the Patriots made the call to the bullpen.

Lancers junior infielder De 'Andre Pitts singled off of Mason sophomore reliever Michael Yuille to drive in a run to make the score 3-3.

After three scoreless innings, Longwood threatened in the top of the ninth when Garrido led off with a double to right field.

Mason freshman Mason Posey entered the game and got Lancers freshman designated hitter Hunter Gillium to ground out, with Garrido moving to third on the play.

The Patriots then flashed the leather, with third baseman Jared Lyons fielding a hard ground ball and applying the tag on Garrido at third before a strong throw to first to complete the game-ending double play.

In the bottom of the ninth, Mason sophomore Cam Reckling reached on a fielding error and rumbled all the way around from first when Driscoll tripled off the wall to the deepest part of the ballpark to give the Patriots the 4-3 walk-off win.

Halligan allowed three runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and four walks in 4.1 innings in a no-decision for the Patriots.  Yuille scattered three hits in 3.2 innings in a strong outing, while Posey (1-0) recorded three outs in the ninth to earn his first collegiate win.

In his first collegiate start, Esposito allowed three runs, one earned on four hits with a career-high four strikeouts in a no-decision for the Lancers.  Senior Jon Peterson (2-1) gave up an unearned run in the ninth and took the loss.  The Lancers used six pitchers in the game.

Driscoll went 3-for-5 with a RBI and now has a hit in nine of his last 11 games.  Reckling was 1-for-5 and scored the winning run and also has at least one hit in nine of his last 11 games.  Brooks and Aponte each drove in a run for the Patriots.
