FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University women's basketball head coach Nyla Milleson has announced the signing of two student-athletes who will compete for the Patriots beginning fall of 2019.

The Patriots received National Letters of Intent on Wednesday from incoming freshmen Vita Stam (Bilthoven, Netherlands) and Jazmyn Doster (Norfolk, Va.).

Mason will add another player with an international background as their roster already features four student-athletes from outside the states: 2019 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year Nicole Cardaño-Hillary (Spain), Marika Korpinen (Finland), Livija Kaktaite (Lithuania) and mid-year enrollee Rosie Schweizer (Australia).

Stam comes to Mason with a plethora of international experience, playing on the U16 and U18 Netherlands National Team the past two summers. She recorded two double-doubles in last year's U18 Championships – 14 points and 17 rebounds against Austria and 16 points and 10 rebounds against Finland.

The 6-foot-3 forward has played for the highest league in the Netherlands, Vrouwen Basketball League, and will bring that high-level of play to Mason. Stam will see a familiar face on campus as she attended the same academy as Mason soccer player Emma van der Vorst, the A-10 Player and Rookie of the Year.

"Vita is an athletic, versatile forward with fast developing skills," said Milleson. "A quick leaper, with a long wing-span, Vita is a presence inside and is comfortable playing away from the basket as well.

"She has gained valuable experience representing her country the last few summers and has gone through a college-like basketball and academic program that will prepare her to have a big impact in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Vita verbally committed to us back in January, so we are excited to finally announce her commitment and can't wait for her join us this fall."

Doster, a Norfolk, Va., native rounds out Mason's 2019 incoming class.

The 6-foot-2 center celebrated a decorated high school career at Lake Taylor. The First Team Class 4 All-State, All-Class Region A and first team All-Eastern District honoree led her team to the Class 4 State Championship. In the Championship game, she posted a game-high 17 points, 14 boards and three blocks.

She played AAU with Team Loaded where she averaged 14 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks during her senior season.

"Jazmyn's commitment provides us with great depth at the forward position and brings us a true center," said Milleson. "She is a physical low block player who understands how to play team defense. Her IQ on both sides of the ball, work ethic, and athletic frame will allow her to quickly develop and contribute."

Stam and Doster will join a strong class of freshmen that includes four other players: forward Rosie Schweizer (Australia), guard Rachel Balzer (Pennsylvania), guard Jordan Wakefield (Maryland) and guard Tamia Lawhorne (New York).
