SCOUTING THE LOPES
Grand Canyon: 9-11, 0-6 MPSF
Grand Canyon is coming off an impressive showing last weekend against then-#9 Loyola Chicago. The Lopes defeated the Ramblers in back-to-back five set thrillers, halting GCU's six-match losing streak.
With statement victories over Loyola Chicago, the Lopes are now receiving votes in the AVCA DI-DII Coaches Poll, the first time since Week 4. GCU will look to earn its first conference win on Thursday night against Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opponent, No. 10 USC, before taking on the Patriots on Friday and Saturday.
This will be the ninth all-time meeting between Mason and Grand Canyon. The Patriots lead the series, 5-3, despite falling in both contests last season in Fairfax, Va.
