SEASON PROSPECTUS
The Patriots return seven starters and 18 letterwinners from a 2018 team that went 11-7, finished fourth in the Atlantic 10 and reached the conference tournament for the fourth straight year. A-10 Rookie of the Year Erin Donoghue returns after a breakthrough season in which she became the first Mason freshman to earn All-Conference First Team honors. The midfielder ranked second on the team in goals (44), points (51), draw controls (86) and ground balls (29).

Mason also brings back top scorer and A-10 All-Conference Second Team selection Chachi Kelehan. The senior captain from Ellicott City, Md., led the team with 52 goals and a school-record 76 points in addition to 24 assists, which ranked second on the team. Junior goalkeeper Melissa Semkiw prepares for her third season in the net. The native of Frederick, Md., posted a record of 9-6 with 154 saves, a save percentage of .503 and a 9.93 goals against average.

SCOUTING MARYLAND
A perennial national power, the Terps are coming off their 10th straight trip to the Final Four. Maryland went 20-2, reached the national semifinals, won both the Big Ten regular-season and tournament titles and went undefeated in conference play for the fourth straight season. Maryland is led by a pair of All-American midfielders – senior Jen Giles and Erica Evans, a graduate transfer from Canisius. They also return reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year Grace Griffin and two-time All-American goalkeeper Megan Taylor, 2017 IWLCA National Goalie of the Year.

SERIES HISTORY
Maryland holds a 7-0 lead in the all-time series. The teams haven't met since March 8, 2011 when the No. 1 Terps recorded a 21-2 victory in College Park. Maryland has been ranked in the top 10 all seven times in the series.

TEAM CAPTAINS
Seniors Chachi Kelehan and Rachel Woods were chosen as team captains before the season. Kelehan, an attacker from Ellicott City, Md., ranks third at Mason in all-time points (179), fourth in goals (127) and sixth in assists (52). Woods, a defender from Longmeadow, Mass., is a three-year starter who ranked third on the team last year with 14 caused turnovers.
