However, the Wildcats responded with two goals, including a free position goal by Ellie Johnson at 5:03, followed by a score from Keira Best. Despite multiple saves by George Mason's
Regan Bestick, the quarter concluded with the Green & Gold trailing 2–1.
The second quarter saw George Mason striving to gain momentum, highlighted by successful draw controls, including two by Anders. Despite these efforts, the Patriots were unable to convert their opportunities into goals, with shots from
Matye Riley and
Kaitlyn Bestick being saved by Davidson's Kayla Joyce. Davidson led 8-1 at halftime.
George Mason found momentum midway through the third quarter when
Emily Mowbray scored at 7:18, narrowing the deficit. Following this, Anders added another goal for the Patriots at 3:05, bringing their total up for the quarter. Despite these efforts by George Mason, the Wildcats maintained control with multiple goals throughout the quarter. The third quarter concluded with Davidson leading 13–3.
In the fourth quarter, Davidson extended its lead early with a two goals. The Patriots secured a draw control shortly after but faced challenges in maintaining possession, including a turnover by
Isabella Munz. Despite a strong clear attempt and several ground ball recoveries by Riley and Bestick, George Mason was unable to convert these opportunities into goals. Anders had a notable free position shot that hit the post at 3:53, narrowly missing a chance to score. Davidson continued to pressure, resulting in two additional goals. The quarter concluded with Davidson securing a decisive victory over George Mason, 17–3, as the game ended.
