FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason University men's basketball team (14-10, 8-3 A-10) wraps up a two-game homestand Wednesday night with a contest vs. Massachusetts inside EagleBank Arena.
Tip-off between the Patriots and Minutemen is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday's game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+. In addition, "Voice of the Patriots" Bill Rohland will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m.
PATRIOT POINTS
* The Patriots have won 11 of their past 15 A-10 games. Mason is off to its best start in league play (8-3) in its six seasons in the Atlantic 10.
* The Patriots have won five of their past six contests inside EagleBank Arena.
* Last time out, Mason snapped a two-game losing skid with an 84-76 win over La Salle Sunday. The Patriots shot 50.9 percent from the floor in the win.
* The Patriots made 5-of-10 3-point attempts (.500) vs. the Explorers, improving Mason's record to a solid 8-1 this season when the team shoots 33 percent or better from the 3-point line.

Javon Greene put together arguably his best game in a Mason uniform in the win. The McDonough, Ga., product tallied a career-best 21 points (6-11 FG, 3-6 3pt FG, 6-6 FT), added seven rebounds and tied a season best with four steals.

Jarred Reuter chipped in 16 points (5-9 FG, 6-7 FT) while
Otis Livingston II (14 pts, 5 ast) and
Justin Kier (13 pts, 8 reb) also scored in double figures for the Green & Gold.
* Reuter is averaging 12.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and shooting 62.5 percent from the floor over the past five games.
* Livingston II has scored 10+ points in eight straight games. With his fourth assist vs. La Salle, he became the first player in Mason history to tally 100+ assists in each of his four seasons.
* The Patriots have been solid on the glass over the past three games. Mason has an average rebounding margin of +8.7. In league play, the Patriots are +4.1 overall (3rd in the A-10).

ROAD WARRIORS
Mason is tied with VCU for the most overall road wins in the A-10 this season (5). The Patriots won their first four away A-10 contests, marking the first time the Green & Gold captured their first four league road games since 1989-90 (per Patrick Stevens). Mason also won at William & Mary in the non-conference and nearly knocked off No. 18 Kansas State in Manhattan, falling to the Wildcats 59-58. Mason had a chance to win that game on the final possession. The Patriots shoot 47.6 percent on the road, including a 37.2 percent mark from 3-point range (.372). Both of those clips are above the team's overall season averages.
HISTORY vs. MASSACHUSETTS
Wednesday's matchup marks the 11th all-time meeting between Mason and UMass. The Patriots hold a 7-3 advantage in the series and have won the past six meetings. Mason captured all three matchups in 2017-18 and swept the two-game series in 2016-17. The teams have split four meetings in Fairfax. Both regular season games went to overtime in 2017-18 and seven of the past eight meetings have been decided by six points or less. This season, Mason captured the first meeting, 68-63, on Jan. 16 in Amherst. Mason trailed by four (54-50) with 6:40 remaining, but used a crucial 13-2 run over the next four minutes to build a 63-56 lead with 2:38 to go. UMass could not move closer than three for the remainder of the game.
Justin Kier poured in 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds in 37 minutes of work.
Javon Greene added a career-best 19 points (6-11 FG), seven rebounds and two steals in 35 minutes.
A LOOK AT THE MINUTEMEN (9-15, 2-9 Atlantic 10; KenPom No. 216, NET No. 210)
UMass was picked to finish eighth in the 2018-19 A-10 preseason poll. The Minutemen tallied a 7-6 record in non-conference play, including a road win at Providence and victory over Southern Illinois in Las Vegas. Massachusetts started league play 0-6, but the Minutemen have gone 2-3 in their last five contests, including a home win over Davidson. UMass is third in the A-10 in 3-point field goal perentage (.343) and fourth in assists per game (14.3). Junior Luwane Pipkins ranks fourth in the A-10 with 16.8 points per game and is 48th nationally in assists per game (5.4). He missed the last UMass game due to injury. Sophomore Carl Pierre tallies 10.7 points and shoots at his usual solid clip (.396) from beyond the 3-point arc. Center Rashaan Holloway averages 9.4 points and shoots 71.6 percent from the floor.

Mason hits the road for a rematch with St. Bonaventure Sunday (Feb. 17) in Olean, N.Y. Tip-off between the Patriots and Bonnies is scheduled for 2 p.m. The game will be televised regionally on Stadium and streamed nationally on WatchStadium.com.
