Patriots Conclude Non-Conference Play at Delaware, SMU

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's basketball team wraps up non-conference play on the road with a pair of contests at Delaware (Dec. 29) and SMU (Dec. 31).

Tip-off between the Patriots and Blue Hens is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday in Newark, Del. Sunday's game will be broadcast nationally on Flo Hoops. Fans can watch the games live and via on-demand by becoming a monthly or annual subscriber.

PATRIOT POINTS
* After trailing by as many as 20, the George Mason women's basketball team pulled within three with four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, before eventually falling to Howard 86-75 on Dec. 21 at EagleBank Arena.

* Junior Camarie Gatling scored a career-high 18 points to go along with 11 rebounds for her sixth career double-double against Howard. She shot 61.5 percent (8-13) from the field and added eight of her 11 rebounds on the offensive end of the floor.

* With 18 points vs. Howard, junior Nicole Cardaño-Hillary surpassed 1,400 career points to now sit eighth in Mason's all-time scoring (1,414). She added six rebounds, five assists and three steals in an all-around performance for the Patriots.

* The Patriots held a +12 advantage on the glass (49-37), including a +17 edge in offensive rebounds (27-10). But, the Bison shot 51.7 percent (31-60) from the field and 47.4 percent (9-19) from deep to claim the victory.

* Gatling was named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 16-22. She averaged 17.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 64.0 percent (16-25) from the field. It marked the first time in her career the Richmond, Va., product has garnered the weekly accolade.

* Cardaño-Hillary leads the Atlantic 10 in scoring (17.8 ppg) and is third in steals per game (2.1).

* Senior Jacy Bolton surpassed 600 career rebounds with six boards against Bradley (Nov. 29). She now sits 12th all-time with 627 rebounds. Bolton is two boards away from 11th place (629) held by Laura Teter (1989-93).

* Gatling ranks second in the A-10 in field goal percentage (.545).

* Senior Alexsis Grate leads the team in assists per game (3.6) - good for eighth in the A-10. Her assist/turnover ratio (1.6) ranks seventh in the league.

* Bolton is 25 points away from 1,000 career points. She'll become just the 20th player in program history to achieve that mark.
 
* The Patriots have three players among the top-15 in program history in career all-time three-point field goals made. With 22 3-point FGs this season, senior Sarah Kaminski is locked into third place with 161 total treys. Cardaño-Hillary (129) is 10th and Bolton (109) is 13th.
 
SERIES HISTORY
The former Colonial Athletic Association foes have met 36 times, dating back to the 1987-88 season. Delaware leads the all-time series, 22-14, and has won five of the last seven matchups. Last season, Mason earned a 72-46 win over the Blue Hens on December 6 in Fairfax, Va.

Mason and SMU will meet for the first time in program history.

SCOUTING DELAWARE
Delaware is on a two-game losing streak with recent losses to Charlotte (61-57) and Gardner-Webb (67-65). The Blue Hens' last win came on Dec. 7 with a 73-62 victory over Robert Morris.

The Blue Hens were predicted to finish fourth in the Colonial Athletic Association Preseason Poll. James Madison was predicted to win it all in 2020 with 81 points and nine first place votes according to a vote of the league's 10 head coaches.  Behind the Dukes was Drexel (70; 1) defending champion Towson was third with 65 points and Delaware was fourth with 59 points.

The 2018 CAA Player of the Year, Nicole Enabosi earned Preseason First Team accolades. She finished her junior campaign ranked in the Top 10 of nine Delaware single-season categories while leading the CAA in points per game (18.0), rebounds per game (11.8) and defensive rebounds per game (8.9).
