FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason University men's basketball junior guard
Javon Greene was named the
College Sports Madness A-10 Player of the Week on Monday.
Greene averaged 15 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals in three games last week while helping lead Mason to the Cayman Islands Classic title.
The McDonough, Ga., product tallied a season-best 19 points (5-10 FG, 6-6 FT) and seven rebounds during the quarterfinal victory over Old Dominion. Then in the semifinals vs. Nebraska, Greene poured in 17 points, six rebounds, three assists and a season-high four steals in the 85-66 victory over the Cornhuskers. In the final vs. New Mexico State, Greene chipped in nine points and six rebounds in 28 minutes.
On the year, Greene ranks second on the Patriots in scoring (13.4 ppg), rebounding (7.0 rpg) and assists (2.6 apg) and is first in steals (1.8 spg).
Greene and the Patriots return to EagleBank Arena on Tuesday (Dec. 3) when the Patriots take on Jacksonville State at 7 p.m.
