Senior forward Raheem Lawal made the play happen when he raced down the right side and conneced with a perfect pass to Robinson, who finished into the lower left corner of the net.

After the break, the Rams pressured the Patriots.

Rams freshman midfielder Celio Pompeu scored his first career goal in the 68th minute, finding the upper left corner off a free kick from 25 yards out to cut the Mason lead in half at 2-1.

With just 25 seconds remaining in regulation the Patriots committed a foul in the penalty area.

VCU senior defender Ryo Shimazaki, who scored two of his three goals during the regular season on penalty kicks, converted the penalty kick for the equalizer to tie the match, 2-2, and send the game into overtime.

Mason sophomore goalkeeper Brison Moorhead made six saves, while Sequeira made four saves in the match.
