FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason swimming and diving teams completed the annual Patriot Invitational on senior day, with both the men's team and women's team finishing fourth in the three-day event held at the Jim McKay Natatorium.
On the men's side, UNCW won the meet for the second straight year with 788.5 points. Florida Atlantic was second with 738.5 points and Drexel placed third with 697.5 points. Mason was fourth with 667 points, followed by UMBC (409.5), Seton Hall (366), American (104) and Shippensburg (83).
Senior
Attila Kiss placed fifth in the 1,650-yard freestyle (15:49.68). Freshman
Jackson Knouse finished 11th (16:14.10), sophomore
Timothy McKinley was 18th (16:31.08) and sophomore
Walter Turlington was 19th (16:37.46) in the distance event.
Sophomore
Sam Westmont took fifth in the 200-yard backstroke (1:50.20).
Sophomore
Nick Ashton finished eighth in the 100-yard freestyle (45.72). Sophomore
Will Rastatter won the B-Final of the event (45.43), with junior
Drake Moretz fourth (46.00).
In the 200-yard breaststroke, graduate student
Jake Ball touched the wall sixth (2:02.27), junior
Wallace Watkins seventh (2:03.18) and freshman
Luke DeVore eighth (2:06.74). Freshman
Thomas Chapman was second in the B-Final (2:03.94) and senior
Christopher Stankiewicz won the C-Final of the event (2:03.89).
The Patriots finished three-four in the 200-yard butterfly.Â
Senior
Ryan Donnelly took the bronze with a third-place finish (1:48.15), while DeVore was just behind in fourth (1:48.30).
In the final event of the night, the combination of Ashton, Donnelly, Moretz and Rastatter swam to a third-place finish in the 400-freestyle relay (3:00.85). Drexel won the event with a new meet record time (2:59.34).
On the women's side, Drexel won the meet with 850 points, Florida Atlantic was second with 772.5 points and UNCW was third with 630 points. Â Mason finished fourth (467), followed by Seton Hall (375), Richmond (372), American (235.5), UMBC (163) and Shippensburg (8).
Junior
Jacquee Clabeaux won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:13.56). Sophomore
Sophie McKinley placed second in the C-Final of the event (2:24.44).
Sophomore
Megan Cummins began the night for the Patriots with a third-place finish to take the bronze in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:08.98). Senior
Hannah Ikenberry placed 12th (17.49.08) and junior
Erica King was 15th in the event (18:07.55).
Sophomore
Hannah Milikich placed seventh in the 200-yard backstroke (2:02.41), while freshman
Lauren Ashton finished second in the B-Final of the event (2:02.45). Ikenberry was third in the C-Final (2:05.29).
In the C-Final of the 100-yard freestyle, freshman
Emily Lewantowicz was eighth (53.02).
Sophomore
Laura Hodge placed sixth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.44), with freshman
Leah Riley winning the C-Final of the event (2:06.49).
In the 400-freestle relay, the team of junior
Shannon Glesing, sophomore
Ariana Lewis, Clabeaux,and Lewantowicz combined to finish third (3:25.82). UNCW won the event with new meet record time (3:24.31).
The Mason seniors were honored before the meet.Â
