FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's basketball team continues its three-game homestand with a Saturday contest against Detroit Mercy.
Tip-off between the Titans and Patriots is scheduled for noon at EagleBank Arena. Saturday's game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+, featuring commentary from
Steve Kolbe. In addition, Shawn Ouellete will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with pre-game coverage beginning at 11:45 a.m.
PATRIOT POINTS
* Mason dropped its home opener to ACC foe Virginia Tech, 77-58, on Sunday afternoon. Senior
Jacy Bolton led the Patriots with a team-high 15 points and five rebounds.

Alexsis Grate finished 4-of-5 from the field, including two three pointers, to notch 12 points to go along with three assists.
* Freshman
Tamia Lawhorne averaged 12 points, five rebounds and shot 43.8 percent in her first career week in a Mason uniform. She had an impressive debut, with 16 points and eight rebounds in Mason's 72-61 win at College of Charleston on Nov. 6.
* The Patriots had four athletes finish in double figures in its season opener vs. College of Charleston:
Nicole Cardaño-Hillary (24 pts), Lawhorne (16 pts),
Camarie Gatling (12 pts) and
Marika Korpinen (10 pts).

* The Patriots were selected to finish sixth in the Atlantic 10 women's basketball preseason poll - their highest preseason projection since joining the league prior to the 2013-14 season.
* Cardaño-Hillary scored in double figures in 33 consecutive games prior to Mason's matchup against Virginia Tech. The streak came to an end as she finished with six points vs. the Hokies. She also had a streak of 31 consecutive games in double figure scoring during her freshman season (11/7/17 to 2/27/18).
Natalie Butler holds the record for most consecutive games in double figures in a season (34) while Taylor Brown holds the record for a career (41).
* Cardaño-Hillary was named to the Nancy Lieberman Award watch list on Oct. 21, given to the nation's top point guard.
SERIES HISTORY
In the lone meeting between the two teams, Mason earned a 55-54 victory over Detroit Mercy on Nov. 30, 2016 in Detroit, Mich. Senior Kara Wright made a driving layup with 3.5 seconds left to lift the Patriots to victory. Wright finished with a game-high 15 points,
Allie McCool added a then career-high 11 points and junior Taylor Dodson set career highs with 10 rebounds and three steals.
SCOUTING DETROIT MERCY
The Titans are currently on a four-game road stretch, with recent losses to #17/#21 Michigan State, 110-52, and Butler, 82-60. On Wednesday night, Detroit Mercy rallied from 22 points down to cut the deficit to nine points in the fourth quarter, but the Titans could not complete the comeback against Butler in an 82-60 setback from historic Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Sophomore Maxine Moore scored in double figures for the second-straight game and fourth time in her career. Freshman guard Skylare Starks scored in double figures for the first time in her career, finishing with 10 points.
The Titans enter their fifth season under head coach Bernard Scott and have eight new players on the squad this season, including five freshmen and three Division I transfers. The Titans were picked to finish ninth in the 2019-20 #HLWBB Preseason Poll, which is voted on by the league's head coaches. Detroit Mercy finished with 19 points total in the poll, finishing ahead of UIC.

Sarah Kaminski is sixth in program history in three-point field goals made (141). She is one three-pointer away from moving into a fifth-place tie with Laura Kooij (2001-04) and two away from a fourth-place tie with Marcell Harrison (1990-94). Krista Jay (1994-98) is third in program history with 146 three-point field goals made.

Mason dropped its home opener to Virginia Tech, 77-58, on Sunday afternoon at EagleBank Arena. The Patriots moved to 1-1 overall while the Hokies improved to 2-0 on the young season. Bolton led the Patriots with a team-high 15 points and five rebounds. Fellow senior Grate finished 4-of-5 from the field, including two three pointers, to notch 12 points to go along with three assists.
The Hokies shot 50.0 percent from the floor, 42.9 percent behind-the-arc and 85.7 percent from the free throw line to power past the Patriots. Mason was held to just 34.4 percent shooting from the floor and 50.0 percent from the free throw line.
