SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – The George Mason men's soccer team dropped its match against the Atlantic 10 leading Billikens, 2-0, on Wednesday night at Hermann Stadium in St. Louis, Mo.
It looked like the two clubs were going to head to the break scoreless, but Mason (3-8-1, 2-1-0 A-10) allowed a late goal to Saint Louis (7-3-0, 4-0-0 A-10) with just over a minute to play in the first half.
Saint Louis junior defender Ben Huels scored his second goal of the season in the 44th minute to put the Billikens in front 1-0. Junior defender Jacob Goyen picked up an assist on the play.
After halftime, the Billikens extended their advantage early in the second half when senior forward Leo Novaes scored his fifth goal of the season to make it a 2-0 game. Junior defender Patrick Wilkinson assisted on the goal.
Mason sophomore goalkeeper
Brison Moorhead (2-3-1) made a season-high nine saves in the match including six in the second half. Saint Louis freshman goalkeeper Patrick Schulte (7-2-0) made three saves, all in the second half, to post his fifth shutout of the season.

"The effort was there," Mason head coach
Greg Andrulis said. "The late first half goal was tough but the guys responded well and played much better in the second half.  Lots of good things to take from this game and to work on as we strive to continue to improve and get better.  Saint Louis is a well-coached quality team, and tonight they were able to finish a couple of chances."
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
The Billikens outshot the Patriots 18-16, including a, 11-3 edge in shots on goal. Saint Louis had five corner kicks and Mason had three corner kicks in the match.

Saint Louis had six different players with at least one shot on goal in the match as the Billikens improved to 4-0-0 in Atlantic 10 play.
