FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's soccer team returns to Atlantic 10 play, hosting Dayton on Saturday, Oct. 5 at George Mason Stadium. The opening kick is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Last time out, Mason (2-7-1) fell to Longwood, 2-0, on Tuesday in the final non-conference match of the season. After a scoreless first half, the Lancers scored goals in the 59th and 90th minute to earn their first victory over the Patriots in the all-time series.

Sophomore goalkeeper
Brison Moorhead (1-2-1, 1-0-0 A-10) made four saves in the match. He has made 14 saves over the last three games.

Mingachos leads the team in goals (4) and points (9), while Akinlosotu paces the Patriots in assists (3) and is second on the squad in goals (2) and points (7). Both of Akinlosotu's goals have been at home and have been game-winners.

The Patriots have a record of 2-1-2 in the all-time series against the Flyers. Mason defeated Dayton, 1-0, in double overtime in the Atlantic 10 Championship semifinals last season on Nov. 9, 2018 at the Hermann Stadium in St. Louis, Mo.

Last time out, the Flyers had their four-game winning streak come to an end, falling at Marshall 2-0 on Tuesday in Huntington, W.Va. The Thundering Herd took the lead in the 24th minute and added an insurance goal in the 74th minute of play.

Dayton defeated then-No. 20 West Virginia, 2-0, on Sept. 21 to account for its lone road win of the season. The win was the 500th in program history for the Flyers.Â
Junior midfielder Jonas Fjeldberg leads the team in goals (5), points (10), shots (37) and shots on goal (18). Freshman forward Toluwalase Oladeinbo is second on the club in goals (4) and points (8).

Nine players have scored at least one goal for the Flyers, while 18 players have posted at least one point through their first 10 matches of the season.

In goal, senior Federico Barrios, who was a preseason All-Conference selection, has started all 10 games for the Flyers (5-5-0, 1-0-0 A-10) and boasts a 1.17 goals against average. He has made 34 saves and surrendered 12 goals in 10 games.

Barrios was selected A-10 Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 30 after recording a pair of shutouts last week.

In the A-10 quarterfinals, the Patriots defeated Saint Louis in double-overtime, 1-0. In the semifinals at the Billiken Sports Center, Mason defeated Dayton, 1-0, in double-overtime to advance to the championship game for the first time since the 2013 season.
