BRONX, N.Y. - Despite a late offensive surge, the George Mason women's soccer team (2-8-1, 0-4-0 A-10) drops conference road game in overtime at Fordham (3-8-2, 2-2-0 A-10) by a score of 2-1 on Thursday at Jack Coffey Field.
Mason junior Shannon Lee earned her first goal of the season for the Patriots in the 71st minute, after getting a great cross from her twin sister Emma Lee, who earned her first assist and point of the season. The Lee twins' offensive pressure was not enough, however, as the Rams answered with the game winning goal within the first four minutes of the overtime period.
It was a game of two halves for both teams. The Patriots and Rams combined for a total of three shots in the first 45 minutes. After the half, Fordham finally answered with a penalty kick score in the 66th minute, after Mason committed a handball in the box.
Once the Rams got on the board, the Patriots' offense turned it on as head coach Todd Bramble's offense created scoring chance after scoring chance.
Despite the opportunities, the Patriots could not find a second goal and fell to the Rams in 94 minutes, 2-1.
