Patriots Drop Season Finale in New York

Olean, N.Y. - The George Mason women's soccer team (3-11-3, 1-7-2 A-10) fell to St. Bonaventure (7-10-1, 3-6-1 A-10) by a score of 1-0 in the team's final match of 2019 on Sunday.

Senior goalkeeper Kariana Blaszak earned her first start of the season, second of her career, in net for the Green & Gold. Blaszak performed well in her appearance, recording three saves and multiple stops for the Patriots' defense. Fellow senior Morgan Symmers also spent time in net on Sunday. Symmers notched two saves of her own. The two seniors played a half each in their final game in a Patriots uniform.

Junior Louisa Moser, who usually spends her playing time in the net for Mason, spent 21 minutes using her feet for the Patriots on the pitch.

The Bonnies scored in the 17th minute as Bella May earned her third goal of the season. The score came off of a far throw in where the ball found itself in front of the net to be ultimately put in the back of the net.

Mason could not answer the early score, falling to the A-10 foe.

St. Bonaventure earned a 7-4 advantage over Mason in shots, a 6-2 edge in shots on goal and an 8-5 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

Redshirt junior Emily Bradshaw and sophomore Kolbrún Eyjólfsdóttir were the only two Patriots to go the full 90 minutes, as a season high 19 different Patriots saw the field.
