FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's soccer team allowed a goal in each half and fell to La Salle, 2-0, on Wednesday evening at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Va.
La Salle (7-7-1, 3-3-0) took the lead late in the first half when sophomore midfielder Sam Decencio scored his second goal of the season to put the Explorers in front 1-0. Senior midfielder Pat McCarthy and freshman defender Franc Gamiz Quer picked up the assists.
The Patriots were held to one shot on goal in the first half of play.
Mason controlled much of the play in the second half and outshot La Salle 10-4, including a 4-1 advantage in shots on goal after the break.
The Explorers appeared to extend the advantage in the 61st minute, but the goal was called off due to offsides.
La Salle added an insurance goal in 86th minute, with sophomore forward Omari Cotterell netting his second goal of the season to make the score 2-0. Sophomore midfielder Tarin Morris assisted on the goal.

Brison Moorhead (4-4-1) made four saves, while La Salle freshman goalkeeper Carlos Mora (3-1-1) made a season-high fives saves in the match.

The Patriots outshot the Explorers 15-11, while La Salle finished with a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal. Both teams had eight corner kicks in the match.

Mason, Davidson, George Washington and La Salle have identical 3-3-0 conference records and are in a four-way tie for sixth place in the Atlantic 10 standings.
