PRINCETON, N.J. – The George Mason men's and women's cross country teams pieced together another solid performance, this time at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday morning at West Windsor Fields in Princeton, N.J.
The Mason women finished eighth out of 20 teams with a score of 266 while the Mason men placed ninth out of 24 teams with 257 points.
In her first meet of the season, 2018 A-10 All-Rookie Team selection Siobhra O'Flaherty finished as Mason's top performer in the 6k (23rd, 22:07.7).
Junior
Carina Garcia placed 44th (22:28.8) while senior
Margaret Morgan finished 47th (22:32.5).
Noelle Saine (87th, 23:12.9),
Kaitlyn Johnson (89th, 23:13.7),
Allison Rice (23:14.4) and
Sarah Richart (96th, 23:15.7) rounded out the Mason women.
In the men's 8k, sophomore
Jack Ikenberry was Mason's top performer, placing 29th with a time of 24:42.3. Junior
Grant Anderson followed closely behind in 34th with a time of 24:51.3. Sophomore Jack Lonsdale placed 64th (25:13.8), junior
Thomas Amabile was 74th (25:18.4) and freshman
James Seal took 85th (25:24.3).
Willem Landis (89th, 25:25.5) and
Will Smagh (102nd, 25:34.8) rounded out the Mason men.
The Princeton Invitational was the Patriots' final test before championship season begins. Mason will take the week off before hosting the Atlantic 10 Championship on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Va.
