FAIRFAX, Va. – Three tournaments into his collegiate career,
Hayden Miller has been recognized for his strong play on the golf course.
The George Mason freshman was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week today for his performance at the Phoenix Invitational in Burlington, N.C. earlier this week. Miller finished fourth among 97 individuals and 16 teams overall.
The Leesburg, Va. native fired the best score of the third round with a 7-under-par 64 to finish with a 204 (-9) three-round score at the par-71 6,867-yard Alamance Country Club. Miller's three-round score is the third best tournament score versus par (-9) in Mason history.
The 64 ties the second-best round in Mason tournament history.
Eric Edwards carded a 64 in 2015 at the ODU/OBX Collegiate.
Through three tournaments this season, Miller has led the Patriots as the top scorer in two tournaments and holds a team-best 71.0 stroke average.
The Patriots return to action this Sunday with the ODU/OBX Collegiate in Powell's Point, N.C.
