FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason redshirt senior defender
Gilian Buijk netted his first NCAA goal on a header in double overtime, scoring the golden goal in the 103rd minute to lift the Patriots past Davidson, 1-0, on Saturday night at George Mason Stadium.
Mason (4-8-1, 3-1-0 A-10) and Davidson (2-7-2, 1-3-0 A-10) played a defensive first half, with the Patriots recording the only two shots on goal in the first 45 minutes of play. The match opened up in the second half, with Davidson registering four shots on goal. Neither team was able to get a shot on goal in the first overtime.
Buijk tallied the game's only goal early in the second overtime when his header bounced off the right post and into the net.
Mason senior forward
Tunde Akinlosotu played the ball into the box after a free kick to pick up his team-leading fifth assist of the season.
The Patriots have gone to overtime in each of their last four home games.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Brison Moorhead made all four of his saves in the second half to earn his first shutout in a Mason uniform. Davidson senior goalkeeper Sawyer Gaffney made three saves in the match.

Greg Andrulis said. "Back-to-back home wins in overtime I think shows the guts and determination that this team has. Goals haven't been easy for us this year and we missed a lot of good chances today, but certain guys are stepping up at certain times."
