SCOUTING MASSACHUSETTS
The Minutewomen (10-7, 2-1 A-10) have won three of four and are coming off a 74-60 victory at La Salle on Sunday. Junior Hailey Leidel leads the team in both scoring (13.6 ppg) and rebounding (7.3 rpg). Sophomore Bre Hampton-Bey averages 11.4 points and ranks fourth in the Atlantic 10 with 57 assists. Senior Jessica George averages 10.5 points and ranks fourth in the A-10 in 3-point percentage (.410).
SERIES HISTORY
The Patriots have won three straight and lead the all-time series 7-1. Mason defeated the Minutewomen 71-60 last season in Fairfax, Va. Then-graduate student Natalie Butler scored 30 points and grabbed 19 rebounds and Nicole Cardaño-Hillary added 19 points on Feb. 11, 2018 at EagleBank Arena.
ATLANTIC 10 LEADERS
Several Patriots are among the league's best in numerous statistical categories. Sophomore Nicole Cardaño-Hillary leads the Atlantic 10 in scoring with 20.3 points per game. In conference games, she is averaging a league-best 23.0 points. Sophomore forward Camarie Gatling ranks first in the conference in shooting percentage (.532). Junior Jacy Bolton, who has five double-doubles this season, is tied for first in the A-10 with 8.4 rebounds a game. She is grabbing a league-high 9.7 rebounds in A-10 play (Gatling is third in the A-10 with 8.3 rebounds a game in conference games). Sophomore Marika Korpinen is fifth in 3-point shooting percentage (.372).
LAST TIME OUT
The Patriots dropped a 60-57 decision to Duquesne on Sunday at home. Sophomore Nicole Cardaño-Hillary scored 21 points and junior Jacy Bolton recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds. But the Patriots shot just 25 percent in the fourth quarter as Duquesne rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit. Mason has lost its first three conference games for the first time since its inaugural season in the A-10 in 2013-14.
