CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – George Mason University women's volleyball team dropped both Saturday matches on the final day of the Jefferson Cup. Mason fell to Youngstown State 3-1 (26-28, 25-21, 16-25, 16-25) to begin the day of competition. In the final match of the event, Mason battled hard but ultimately fell to UVA, 3-1 (17-25, 26-24, 19-25, 21-25).

- Mason and Youngstown State exchanged points throughout the opening set to keep the match close. A three-point run by the Patriots tied up the set 24-24; but ultimately, YSU took the first set, 28-26.
- Kills by Peyton Ehmke and Emily Konchan extended the Patriots lead to 20-15 in the second set. Mason never looked back – winning 25-21.
- Youngstown State jumped out to early leads in the third and fourth sets, proving to be too much for Mason. The Penguins took the final two sets both by scores of 25-16.
- ShaLi Niu notched a career-high 11 kills while Emily Konchan supported the offensive attack with 37 assists.
