FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University women's volleyball team fell short in its Atlantic 10 opener against Dayton on Friday night. The Flyers took the match by a score of 3-1, despite a first set victory by the Patriots.
In the opening set, Mason started on a six-point run. Dayton inched away at the Patriots' lead but Mason was able to weather its attack – winning the set, 25-23.
In the second set, Dayton saw success in the early stages, taking a 7-1 lead over Mason. The Flyers then went on a 6-1 run to extend their lead to 15-6. Dayton never looked back for the rest of the set – winning 25-15.
