FAIRFAX, Va. – Two new faces have been added to the George Mason lacrosse coaching staff.
On Tuesday, head coach
Jessy Morgan announced the addition of assistant coaches
Morgan Gott and
Emma Schait. Gott will coach the defense while Schait will oversee the attack.
"I'm very excited to welcome Morgan and Emma to our staff,"
Jessy Morgan said. "Both bring different experiences and knowledge that will be extremely helpful to our team as we look to continue battling at the top of the Atlantic 10 Conference. I'm excited about Morgan's passion for the game and I believe her vibrant, upbeat attitude will be contagious for our team. Emma, who played the last four years at powerhouse Stony Brook, comes from a stickwork heavy program and will add a fundamental piece to our attack."
Gott enters with two years of coaching experience since graduating from Coastal Carolina in 2016.
She made stops at Division III schools Mary Washington and Roanoke College. This past spring at Mary Washington, she worked with the draw specialists and oversaw the defense as the Eagles recorded 17 wins and reached the NCAA Regional Semifinal. At Roanoke College in 2017, she also coached the defense and mentored the draw specialists. In addition, she was the head coach of the Midwestern Force during the 2016-17 school year and has coached at the club level.
Gott was a four-year letterwinner at Coastal Carolina, playing in 61 games as a midfielder for the Chanticleers. The Georgetown, Mass., native, graduated from Coastal Carolina in August 2016 with her degree in management.
Schait recently graduated from Stony Brook this past May with her bachelor's degree in English. The Seaford, N.Y., native played three years for the Seawolves after transferring from Albany prior to the 2016 season. She logged 30 career goals and played in 52 games during her collegiate career.
At Stony Brook, she helped the Seawolves win three America East conference championships and reach three NCAA Tournaments. The last two years were two of the most successful in program history as Stony Brook won 20 games and reached the NCAA Elite Eight in back-to-back seasons.
She also has experience coaching on the club level, serving as the coach/coordinator of the Long Island Wave Lacrosse the last three years.
