FAIRFAX, Va. – Incoming George Mason University men's basketball guard Jason Douglas-Stanley has accumulated an impressive collection of hardware as his 2017-18 senior season has come to a close.
Competing for tradition-rich Mount Vernon High School in New York, Douglas-Stanley earned New York Class AA First Team All-State accolades and was named NY Section 1's Mr. Basketball in March. The Mr. Basketball Award is the highest honor bestowed in Westchester County hoops each season.
As a senior, Douglas-Stanley averaged 28.7 points per game and led Mount Vernon to a 23-3 record, a sectional championship and a spot in the New York State Final Four. He shot 43.7 percent from 3-point territory and set the program's single-game scoring record with a 50-point effort in February.
Douglas-Stanley graduates with quite the legacy. Over his four years, the Knights amassed a 75-19 record, claimed a trio of sectional titles and won the 2017 NYPHSAA state title.
Douglas-Stanley will enroll at Mason this summer and join former Mount Vernon star and teammate
Greg Calixte on the Patriot roster. Douglas-Stanley is part of a three-member freshman class that includes Jordan Miller (Purcellville, Va.) and Jamal Hartwell II (Los Angeles, Calif.).
