FARMVILLE, Va. – The George Mason baseball team built an 8-3 lead but fell to Longwood 13-10 on Wednesday at Buddy Bolding Stadium in Farmville, Va.

James Price to put the Lancers in front 3-0.

Logan Driscoll each forced in a run with a walk to cut the Lancers lead to 3-2.
In the third, Mason sent nine batters to the plate and scored six runs to take an 8-3 advantage. Junior
Alejandro Aponte drove in a pair of runs with a single, while
Logan Driscoll provided the big hit in the inning with a three-run home run over the left field fence.
Longwood junior Jawan McCallister hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the third to cut the Patriots lead to 8-5.

Tyler Nelin led off the fourth with a double and scored on a sacrifice fly by classmate
Michael Smith to make the score 9-5.
In the bottom of the fourth, Longwood sent 13 batters to the plate, scoring seven runs on five hits and four walks against three Mason pitchers to reclaim the lead at 12-9.
Mason graduate student
Frank Sturek led off the fifth with a walk, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error. Senior
Trevor Kelly drove in Sturek with a sacrifice fly to make the score 12-10, but that's as close as the Patriots would get in the game.
Mason freshman
Michael Yuille (0-1) allowed three runs on two hits in the fourth inning and took the loss. The Patriots used eight pitchers in the game.
Longwood sophomore John Gregory (1-0) allowed just one hit and struck out nine over a career-best 4.1 scoreless innings to earn the win.
Logan Driscoll went 1-for-4 with four RBI and one run scored, Aponte was 1-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored and Sturek finished 1-for-2 with three walks.
Every player in the starting lineup for the Patriots either scored a run or drove in a run.
The Lancers scored a season-high 13 runs on 10 hits, while the Patriots plated 10 runs on six hits.
The two teams combined for 23 runs on 16 hits. There were 23 walks and 26 strikeouts in the game.
The Patriots begin a three-game, Atlantic 10 series against Davidson on Friday with the first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. at Wilson Field in Davidson, N.C.
