NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – George Mason University men's basketball junior guard Otis Livingston II has been named to the All-Atlantic 10 second team, the league office announced Tuesday.

A preseason All-A-10 Third Team pick, Livingston II earned a spot on the postseason second team after completing an outstanding regular season for the Green & Gold.

The Linden, N.J., product ranked fifth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring (19.8 ppg) and cemented himself as one of the league's elite point guards while dishing out 4.6 assists per contest.

"This is well deserved recognition for Otis, who had a remarkable season," head coach Dave Paulsen said. "The statistics, and the improvement from last year, are impressive, but only tell part of the story.  Otis shouldered a much larger burden this year and attacked it with enthusiasm and determination. His work ethic and dedication are second to none."

Livingston II took his all-around game to the next level as a junior in 2017-18.

In Atlantic 10 play, he improved in nearly every statistical category compared to last season. Those stats include scoring (19.8 ppg vs. 13.7 ppg), assists (4.7 vs. 2.8), 3-point field goal percentage (.411 vs. 299) and field goal percentage (.458 vs. .379).

In overall games, those numbers also have improved dramatically, including in scoring (17.5 ppg vs. 14.3 ppg), assists (4.5 vs. 3.0), 3-point field goal percentage (.403 vs. .336) and field goal percentage (.446 vs. .414).

Livingston II has provided a consistently dominant scoring presence throughout the A-10 slate for the Green & Gold. He posted double at least 10 points in 16 of 18 league games and tallied 20+ points in 11 games. He also notched 30+ points in a pair of league tilts.

During his outstanding junior campaign, Livingston II has also worked his way up the Mason record books. He's now one of just four players in school history to post at least 1400 points and 350 assists in a career.

Behind Livingston II's strong play, Mason exceeded expectations in the regular season for the second-straight campaign under head coach Dave Paulsen. Picked to finish 10th, the Patriots place fifth in the league after recording a 9-9 mark in A-10 play. It marked the biggest positive differential between preseason prediction and postseason finish of any team in the Atlantic 10.

In 2016-17, the Patriots were picked 12th and ultimately finished seventh.

Tuesday's recognition marks Livingston II's second major Atlantic 10 award for Otis in his first three seasons. He also was named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team as a freshman in 2015-16.

Livingston II and the Patriots open the 2018 Atlantic 10 Championship on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Mason is the No. 5 seed in the tournament, held at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The Green & Gold will play the winner of the first round game between No. 12 La Salle and No. 13 Massachusetts.
