HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The George Mason University men's tennis team opened its Wednesday doubleheader with a morning sweep of Belmont Abbey at the Chaplin Park Tennis Center.
Mason won all three doubles matches, then all six singles matches, with no singles affairs going three sets. Belmont Abbey student-athletes took no more than two games in any of the 12 sets played in singles action.
"The guys are getting some confidence and it's showing in their play," head coach Jimmy Davis said. "I was happy with the effort and execution in both doubles and singles, and we have another opportunity to back it up against Edinboro in a few hours. Each match we're still finding things we need to improve and then implementing them in practice and matches. I'm confident we'll get to another level as a team very soon."
