2017-18: Ended his senior campaign with a singles record of 11-19 and a 5-4 mark in tournament play…Posted a 6-15 dual record with a 4-8 record at the No. 2 singles spot…Partnered with Pally Ray for a record of 6-3 at the No. 1 doubles spot…Notable wins included victories over Hampton, La Salle, and Belmont Abbey...Picked up a 6-4 doubles victory over Saint Joseph’s in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Championship...Selected to Google Cloud Academic All-District Team.

3x A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll

2016-17: Posted an 18-11 singles record and a 10-8 mark in dual play...Recorded a 4-2 record in A-10 play...Singles wins over George Washington, Fordham, Longwood, Duquesne and Georgetown...15-16 doubles record (9-10 dual)...Partnered with Pally Ray at No. 1 doubles primarily during the dual season and posted a 9-8 mark.

2015-16: 2015-16 All-Atlantic 10 Second Team...Gutierrez led the Patriots in wins finishing with a 13-9 record, 10-4 from the No. 5 singles position... He was voted on the All-Conference Second Team... Had a 7-3 record in his last 10 regular season matches... The San Jose, Costa Rica native won seven of his nine regular season A-10 matches.

2014-15: Nominated to the Costa Rican Davis Cup team to play doubles in  group II match with Puerto Rico in July... Earned Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State Men's Tennis University Division Second Team honors for his play in doubles... He finished 19-11 in doubles play for the Patriots in as a freshman paired up with Tanner Baine for all but three matches... They played in the No. 2 position in all but two of their matches... The duo defeated Davidson’s Evan Watkins and Jack Riazzi, 8-7 (5-0) in a pivotal match at the Atlantic 10 Championships as Mason went on to upend Davidson, 4-3.

Personal:  Also known as Guti...played soccer for thirteen years and has been playing tennis for nine years... graduated with honors from Pan American High School in 2013... In 2011, Guti participated in the Lincoln School’s Model United Nations and also the Pan-American School’s Model United Nations...Majoring in systems engineering and operations research.

Guti’s off-the-court resume is impressive and his on-the-court achievements are documented. He earned an International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior rank of 843 this past spring and won first place at the XXIV Central American Tournament Edition. At the 2013 and 2014 Costa Rica Bowl he was a doubles semifinalist and advanced to the doubles round of 16s at the Costa Rica Coffee Bowl ITF (G1) in 2014. He was doubles champion of all Central American Tournaments in 2010.
