Editor's Note: The annual George Mason University Homecoming game will pit the Patriots against George Washington on Saturday at 4 p.m. At halftime of the game, more than 40 former Patriot players will be honored in a special on-court ceremony. To help celebrate the outstanding alumni within the basketball program, we've gathered some of our former players' favorite Mason memories as the Homecoming game approaches.

What is your favorite memory from your experience at Mason?
Jim Nowers (1972-76)—"I have two. The first, is camping out on campus during Mason Day. It brought students together and created a very close knit and intimate atmosphere. The second would involve two of my favorite friends on the basketball team, the Michaels twins, Jeff and Keith. On more than once occasion, playing on the road, their aggressive style of play (I would say extremely competitive) would incense the crowd into a frenzy, and they would rush the court. Lucky for us, we always had
Carolyn Marsh in the stands. She always had our backs."
John Niehoff (1980-84)—"Along with all the great teammates, coaches and athletic staff I had the pleasure of getting to know, my favorite memory was going 14-0 on our home court my senior year at Mason. It was fun to share that success with family, friends, students and alumni, which is about all you could fit in the old PE building."
Ric Wilson (1982-86)— "I have several memories. Definitely the shot at Lamar was my favorite basketball memory. First time I'd ever hit a game winner. Running the hills at Bull Run my freshman year. Carlos Yates would come in last intentionally and tell the team it didn't matter because he was an All-American and we would need him on the hardwood, not the hills! We did. The total level of mental invisibility we felt as a team during the 83-84 season. We had a game in the P.E building and I dunked on David Robinson and the place went wild! Signs on the wall read Dominique Wilson after that! The intimacy of the PE building!"
Rob Anderson (1998-2002)—"My favorite memory was going to Mason Day my freshman year. As a student-athlete my involvement with other students was limited because of my schedule. I really enjoyed meeting other students at Mason Day, concerts and other campus events."
Tony Skinn (2003-06)—"I'd say beating UConn in my backyard. Going back to Mason and the fans that awaited us. It was such a rush and couldn't believe what we had just done but to bring it back to Fairfax was special."
Cam Long (2006-11)—"My most memorable moment at Mason was my senior year when we went on 14 game winning streak."
Johnny Williams (2009-2014)—"Playing VCU at home during the huge snow storm (2009-10 season) and we still had close to a sellout crowd, including more than 2,000 students."
Bryon Allen (2010-14)—Being able to experience an NCAA tournament. Getting escorted by the police to the game. Playing in front of a sold-out arena, the media. The atmosphere was crazy and the excitement. Everything you experience as a kid you dream of being able to play in. Just being able to do that was amazing.
