Box Score FAIRFAX, Va. – An already special season just became historic for the George Mason women's basketball team.

The Patriots defeated La Salle 65-55 in their final game of the regular season on Saturday on Senior Day at EagleBank Arena to set the single-season school record for wins with their 22nd victory. The previous mark of 21 wins had been reached four times before this season but not since 2000-01.

With the win, the Patriots (22-8, 11-5 Atlantic 10) finished the season in fourth place for their highest finish since joining the Atlantic 10 and highest in league play since 2003-04 when still in the Colonial Athletic Association.

They have earned the No. 4 seed for the upcoming A-10 Women's Basketball Championship. Mason will host No. 13 seed St. Bonaventure at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the first round of the league tournament. The Patriots swept the season series against the Bonnies, with the teams meeting just last Sunday at EagleBank Arena. The quarterfinals, semifinals and championship game will be held March 2-4 at the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Va.

The 11 conference wins tie the school record for most league wins in program history. The Patriots won 11 games three times while in the Colonial Athletic Association. 

Graduate student Natalie Butler scored 26 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for her 29th straight double-double, which leads the country and is tied for the third-longest streak in Division I women's basketball history. Freshman Nicole Cardano-Hillary scored 19 points and dished out six assists while grabbing four steals. Sophomore Jacy Bolton added 10 points and four assists.
