FAIRFAX, Va. - RS-Freshman
Jack Reese claimed his first career collegiate award by capturing the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week honor for Jan. 29. Harvard's Jack Heavey won it for the offensive category.
Reese wreaked havoc on the opposing attack, picking up nine total blocks for an average of 1.29 per set. In Sunday's win over #14 Ball State, Reese factored into seven on the Patriots 15 blocks, a total that was the team's most since the 2015 season.
Reese, a transfer from the University of Hawai'i, has started every match at the middle blocker position this season for third year head coach
Jay Hosack. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native is currently second in the EIVA in blocks per set at 1.24, an average that is good for sixth nationally.
Reese's recognition represents the third EIVA Player of the Week award won by a Patriot this season. Last week, Mason swept the awards with sophomore
Hayden Wagner winning Offensive Player of the Week and graduate student
Johnny Gomez winning Defensive Player of the Week.
