Patriots Return Home to Face Richmond Sunday

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's soccer team looks for its fourth straight home win, hosting Richmond on Sunday afternoon with the kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. at George Mason Stadium.

Mason (4-7-1, 1-1-1 A-10) scored two goals in the second half to erase a pair of one-goal deficits last Sunday to earn a 2-2 draw at Saint Joseph's.

Freshman Amanda Nhek scored in the 48th minute and classmate Shannon Lee netted her first NCAA goal in the 82nd minute, while Mason freshman goaltender Louisa Moser (4-3-1, 1-0-1 A-10) made a career-high seven saves in the contest against the Hawks.

Nhek has registered two goals and each of her team-leading three assists over the last four games.

Junior Emily Littell is tied for the team lead in goals (3) and paces the Patriots in assists (6) and points (12), all career-highs.  Junior forward Rebecca Callison is tied for the team lead with a career-high in goals (3) and is second on the squad with a career-best seven points.

Littell is tied for the conference lead in assists (6) and is tied for third in the A-10 in points (12).  She has scored three goals and added five assists over the last five games for Mason.

Senior Erin Mitchell, who is tied for second on the team with two goals, ranks tied for third in the Atlantic 10 in shots (32), while freshman midfielder Kayla Hamric is tied for fourth in the A-10 in shots (31).

As a team, the Patriots rank second in the Atlantic 10 in shots (197) and third in shots per game (16.4).  Mason has taken the second-most corner kicks in the conference (86).

Mason has had 12 players record a goal and 16 players register at least one point over the first 12 games, while four different players have scored a game-winning goal. 

Moser (9 games/746 minutes) has a 1.69 goals against average and has registered 27 saves.  Junior goalkeeper Morgan Symmers (5 games/383 minutes) has a 2.11 goals against average and has recorded nine saves.

Mason last played Richmond during the 2013 season, with the Spiders scoring the game-winning goal with just 41 seconds remaining in double-overtime in a 2-1 victory over the Patriots.

SCOUTING RICHMOND

Richmond has an overall record of 1-8-1.  The Spiders are 0-4-0 at home and 1-4-1 on the road.

The Spiders scored two goals three minutes apart in the second half in a 2-1 win at Rhode Island on Thursday.

Richmond has scored seven goals over 10 games.  The Spiders have dropped five games by a single goal, including two in double overtime.

Sophomore forward Alyssa Walker is tied for the team lead in goals (2) and assists (2), while leading the Spiders in points (6).  Sophomore midfielder Brook Beam is tied for the team lead in goals (2).

Senior goalkeeper Katie Brennan (7 games/561 minutes) has made 47 saves and has a 2.56 goals against average.  Freshman goalkeeper Olivia Sjodin (5 games/389 minutes) has made 24 saves and has a goals against average of 0.92 entering the weekend.

CORNER KICK

Richmond was one of the 20 opponents that Mason faced during the 1982 season.  The Patriots recorded 10 of their 14 wins by shutout in the program's inaugural season, including a 3-0 victory over the Spiders.
