FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's soccer team plays its second straight road game, facing Saint Joseph's at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Sweeney Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
Mason (4-7-0) had its four-game winning streak snapped on Sunday, allowing a pair of late goals in the second half in a 2-0 setback at Dayton.
The Patriots finished with a 19-9 advantage in shots, including 8-3 in shots on goal against the Flyers.
Freshman midfielder
Kayla Hamric was named Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week after scoring her first NCAA goal in Mason's victory over George Washington last Thursday.
"That was quite a dramatic moment for her and I'm happy for Kayla," Mason head coach
Todd Bramble said. "It's part of how she identifies herself as a player, scoring goals. I'm sure it has taken a little bit longer than she wanted it to, but when the goal came, it was a big one."
Hamric is one of four players who have scored their first career goal this season for Mason. She is tied for third in the Atlantic 10 with 29 shots.
Junior
Emily Littell is tied for the team lead in goals (3) and paces the Patriots in points (11), both career highs. Junior forward
Rebecca Callison is tied for the team lead with a career-high three goals and is second on the squad with a career-best seven points, while senior forward
Erin Mitchell is second on the team in goals (2) and third in points (5).
"Emily has been one of our most consistent players for a couple of years now," Bramble said. "That game that she had on Thursday against George Washington might have been the best game of her career up to this point. She was really good on both sides of the ball."
Littell ranks second in the Atlantic 10 in assists (5) and is tied for third in points (11). She is tied for 32nd in the nation in assists.
Mason has had 11 players record a goal and 14 players register at least one point over the first 11 games, while four different players have scored a game-winning goal. The Patriots rank second in the Atlantic 10 in shots (176).
Freshman goalkeeper
Louisa Moser (8 games/636 minutes) has a 1.70 goals against average and has registered 20 saves. Junior goalkeeper
Morgan Symmers (5 games/383 minutes) has a 2.11 goals against average and has recorded nine saves.
Mason looks to earn a win at Saint Joseph's for the first time in program history. The Patriots fell to the Hawks 1-0 on Nov. 1, 2013 in their only previous visit to Sweeney Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
"There is just so much parody in this league," said Bramble. "Saint Joseph's is a really good team on both sides of the ball. They are a solid defensive team, well organized and they work really hard. Offensively, they can produce goals and we are going to be playing on their home field, so we know it's going to be a big challenge for us."
SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH'S
Saint Joseph's has an overall record of 6-3-1. The Hawks are 2-1-1 at home and 4-2-0 on the road.
The Hawks lost an Atlantic 10 regular season game for the first time since the 2015 season on Sunday, falling to La Salle 3-2 in overtime at Sweeney Field.
