Men's Soccer 8/10/2017 12:58:00 PM

FAIRFAX, Va. – Though the George Mason men's soccer team just completed their first day of practice Wednesday, the Patriots soon will quickly find out how they measure up against outside competition.

Mason welcomes VMI for an exhibition game at 3 p.m. on Sunday at George Mason Stadium. Admission is free. It is the first of three exhibition games for the Patriots, who will also play Delaware on Aug. 16 (7 p.m.) and at Old Dominion on Aug. 19 (7 p.m.). Mason opens the regular season at home at 7 p.m. on Aug. 25 against No. 19 Coastal Carolina.

Mason returns 21 letterwinners – seven starters – including forward Tunde Akinlosotu, who was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team last year. The Patriots welcome eight newcomers, including five freshmen.

"This is a very good group," head coach Greg Andrulis, who begins his 13 th year at Mason. "We've got a great foundation. We've added some key components, some new guys. Our level of competition will increase. This is a process of building this group and coming up with the 11 best guys."
