Mason to Renew Series with James Madison in 2017-18

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University men's basketball team will play James Madison for a program record 97th time during the 2017-18 season.
 
The Patriots and Dukes will do battle on Wednesday, November 29 in Harrisonburg, Va. The game serves as the second game in a home and home series between the two former CAA rivals.  
 
The all-time series, which began in Mason's second season of men's basketball (1967-68), has been one of the most competitive in the program's history. The Patriots have won 46 meetings while the Dukes have claimed victory in 50.
 
Last season, Mason hosted James Madison and came away with an 80-77, overtime victory on November 26, 2016, inside EagleBank Arena.
 
The contest at James Madison is one of seven games the Patriots will play in November.

George Mason put together a turnaround campaign in 2016-17 while putting together the 13th 20-win season in school history. In head coach Dave Paulsen's second season leading the program, Mason set a new program record for Atlantic 10 victories (9) and its 20 overall wins were the most by the program since 2012-13. After winning 11 games total and five A-10 contests in 2015-16, Mason ranked as of the nation's 20 most improved teams this past season. The Patriots return three starters and eight letter winners overall heading into the 2017-18 campaign.
