FAIRFAX, Va. – Opposite hitter Jack Wilson and libero Johnny Gomez of George Mason University's men's volleyball team were featured on the 2017 All-EIVA teams, which were released Tuesday.

Wilson, a two-time EIVA Offensive Player of the Week, was named to the conference's First Team. Playing in 95 of the team's 99 sets, he led Mason in kills for third-straight season with 331, third most in the EIVA. Wilson completed his final season with 3.48 kills per set, which ranked fourth in the conference. The senior was also the team's best server in 2017 with 31 aces. On the defensive end, the Midlothian, Va. native contributed 70 digs – third-most by a non-libero player Mason player – and 49 total blocks, the most by a pin hitter on the team.

The Off The Block/Springbak, Inc. Preseason All-American selection Gomez could not replicate his phenomenal junior season, but was again a vital component of the Patriots' success, earning him a place on the Second Team All-EIVA. Last season's leading digger in the nation led the Mason once again with 187 total digs for an average of 2.31 digs per set – fourth-most in the EIVA. At the end of March and beginning of April, Gomez had four consecutive double-digit performances to help Mason stay alive in the postseason race, including season-best 19 digs in the must-win home match against Sacred Heart. As a result, the Indialantic, Fla. native was the other Mason player other than Wilson to earn EIVA weekly recognition with two Defensive Player of the Week honors over the course of the campaign.
