FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University women's tennis team extended its winning streak to four matches with a 7-0 triumph over Monmouth on Thursday afternoon at the Mason Tennis Complex.
 
The victory improves the Patriots to 13-7 on the year.
 
"Our team came out a little flat today but I was happy that we could overcome that issue to still get the win," head coach Stephen Curtis said. "It's days like today that we can learn from for future matches."
 
Mason won all three doubles matches to kick off the day.
 
Scarlett Walston and Olivia Lacy-Thompson got things going with a 6-0 sweep at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3, Morgan Yang and Nicole Haigwood won their fourth straight dual doubles match with a 6-0 victory. And at No. 1, Sydney Green and Rachel Lee also made it four in a row with a 6-3 triumph.
 
Haigwood increased the Mason lead to 2-0 with a straight sets victory at No. 6 (6-1, 6-0). Then, Morgan Yang took the minimum to defeat Alexandra Graff at No. 2 (6-2, 6-2). Yang has won every singles match during Mason's winning streak.
 
At No. 5, Olivia Lacy-Thompson won in straight sets (6-1, 6-1). The victory clinched the match victory for the Green & Gold.
 
Scarlett Walson won her first set, 6-2, at No. 3 singles, then won a close second set with a 7-3 tiebreaker win (7-6 overall).
 
Rounding out the day, Sydney Green won her match at No. 1 singles (6-3, 6-1) and at No. 4, Rachel Lee also dispatched of her opponent in two sets (6-4, 6-0).
 
Mason remains at home for a pair of matches on Saturday. The Patriots host Christopher Newport at 9:30 a.m., then battle UDC at 2:05 p.m. Mason's senior ceremony will begin promptly at 1:55 p.m.
